    Relocating to Spain

At Del Canto Chambers, we provide personalised legal and tax advice for individuals and families relocating to Spain.
Our Global Mobility and Immigration team works closely with our Private Client and Tax departments to design a complete relocation plan — from visa strategy and residence applications to international tax compliance.

We help expatriates, executives and entrepreneurs understand their residency options, tax obligations and relocation benefits, always within the broader context of their personal and professional goals.

We assist companies in evaluating and transforming their corporate structures, ensuring they remain compliant, efficient and aligned with their strategic and financial goals across jurisdictions.

We assist both individuals and employers through every stage of the process, ensuring full compliance and efficient applications.

Residency and registration for EU citizens

EU, EEA and Swiss nationals living in Spain for more than three months must register with the Central Registry of Foreigners.
This certificate allows residence and facilitates subsequent applications for family members or permanent residency after five years.

Our team handles documentation and communication with Spanish authorities, making the process straightforward and compliant.

Family reunification

Family members of non-EU residents in Spain can apply for a Family Reunification Visa, allowing them to live and work in Spain. We manage the two-step procedure — from authorisation in Spain to visa application abroad — and advise on eligibility for spouses, children and dependent parents.

Relocation tax benefits – the Beckham Rule

Spain offers specific tax incentives for new residents under the Beckham Law. Eligible foreign workers can be taxed as non-residents for a limited period, with a fixed rate of 24% on the first €600,000 of Spanish income, and no tax on foreign assets.
Family members may also benefit if certain conditions are met. Our tax lawyers assess eligibility and structure your relocation to maximise these advantages.

Spanish nationality

Our specialists assist clients and their families with applications for Spanish nationality, including:
● Democratic Memory Law (Ley de Memoria Democrática) – for descendants of Spanish nationals or International Brigade volunteers.
● Nationality by residence – available to foreign residents meeting legal, civic and integration criteria after continuous residence in Spain.
We guide you through the entire process, from eligibility assessment to application submission.
